Earth Day is a global event, which more than 1 billion people in 192 countries now take part in. It’s the largest day of action in the world, where people focus on making a positive difference to the world we live in.
The theme this year is “Protect Our Species”, and those species range from everything from bees and insects, to giraffes, whales and elephants. Here in the UK, our actions can’t help all those animals, but we can protect and enhance the natural habitats of the wildlife that surrounds us.
To raise awareness of the issues and help each and every one of us consider the environmental impact we have, we’ve created an Earth Day Topical Resources Pack, which you can access free of charge. In it, you’ll find:
• background information about Earth Day
• information about what a carbon footprint is
• Lesson Plans about the benefits of walking to school and how you can help the environment as a school
• Posters and activities to help you raise awareness in school and in class
