Remember, remember the 5th November… are you excited for Bonfire Night this year? We’ve some great classroom resources for you to use on the theme!
Before we move onto these though, let’s find out a bit more about the event itself.
A Bonfire Night Tale…
Bonfire Night commemorates the discovery of the famous gunpowder plot planned by Guy Fawkes. It was in 1605, on the 5th November, that Guy Fawkes intended to blow up the Houses of Parliament and whilst doing so, assassinate King James I. The plot failed though – it was foiled only the night before and parliament was saved!
Every year since this event, Bonfire Night is usually celebrated at large organised events where big bonfires are built, effigies of Guy Fawkes are burnt and extravagant displays of fireworks are let off to remember this day in history.
