The Regent School in Abuja, Nigeria has over 500 students aged 2 to 11 years old. The school recently installed interactive whiteboards in every classroom, but after extensive training with them, they realised that they were missing something special to encourage their use.
That’s where EducationCity helped! After Akif, a teacher at the school, spoke to Samantha, from EducationCity, The Regent School took the opportunity to try out what we could offer.
Akif tells us: “The user name and passwords for all the children were received in no time, and our teachers began to use this program. The day before the trial version was to end I asked my staff if they want us to subscribe to www.EducationCity.com. Everybody raised their hand unanimously with a loud ‘yes’ and a smile!”
“During all these stages Samantha was always there for any follow-up or questions that needed answering. She even organised a comprehensive three day online CPD training session. This kind of live online training was another experience our staff had never had. They were now fully aware of the different areas of this program.”
“We soon felt the buzz among our children and staff. This program was talked about by everyone in the school. Teachers could assign class work using ‘My City’ and homework using ‘Homework’. All our children have started to look forward to their homework. They love the challenges and revision activities. After completing the task they get their certificates. They love playing educational challenges against each other and with children around the world. Our ICT lab has never been so popular before during break time!”
The Regent School’s Headmaster has remarked on how EducationCity has benefitted the school: “I am delighted that children, staff and parents have found EducationCity so useful as an additional educational tool. I am confident that it helps The Regent School to support teaching and learning both at school and home.”
Akif comments on the future for The Regent School: “We are thinking about introducing iPads in every class for our teaching and learning. EducationCity is the biggest reason for us to move forward. All I want to say is thank you EducationCity for helping us moving our school forward.”
Jamie Southerington, International Team Manager at EducationCity, comments on the feedback which has been received from The Regent School: “It is great to see the fantastic relationships that we are building and the care that we are providing to our schools outside of the UK. This also shows the positive impact that EducationCity is having amongst our International schools with both teachers and students and I would like to thank all involved with this great feedback received.”
Here, at EducationCity, we are thrilled that The Regent School in Abuja, Nigeria has found EducationCity so valuable and hope that they enjoy using EducationCity even more in the future!
