EducationCity.com supports Red Nose Day 2013

EducationCity.com is proud to be supporting Red Nose Day this year, which takes place on Friday 15th March – just a month away!

Red Nose Day encourages young people in schools to participate in the fundraising, by wearing red noses, but also by baking, organising sponsored challenges, dressing up and entertaining others to earn money for this most worthy of causes. The money which is raised is spent by Comic Relief to help transform the lives of people, living in unimaginably difficult circumstances, both here in the UK and in the world’s poorest countries. Last year, schools raised an incredible £8.8 million and this year, it is hoped they can match that sum again.

To help with the fundraising, Comic Relief is providing fantastic, free Fundraising Kits, which are available to order online via the official Red Nose Day website. They have also produced loads of Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 learning activities, teaching resources, assembly plans and even a song, to help you show your pupils the great work the money they raise for Red Nose Day can do.

It’s well worth a look!

Young boy living in urban slums

One Key Stage 1 lesson focuses on the challenges faced by children living in poor conditions in urban slums. Linked to PHSE and Citizenship, it allows pupils to draw comparisons between the lives of these children and their own lives.

Check out the Red Nose Day website for more information and ideas on how your school can get fundraising.
