Happy Pancake Day! Has anybody made any yummy pancakes for the classroom?
Pancake Day is also known as Shrove Tuesday and is the last day before Lent. Lent is a time to give things up, such as chocolate, crisps and cake! Therefore, Shrove Tuesday is a chance to eat tasty things and use up ingredients that you aren’t allowed to eat during Lent. Pancakes are eaten as they are made out of the main foods available, sugar, fat, flour and eggs, which traditionally were restricted during the ritual fasting, associated with Lent.
Not only is today Pancake Day, but also International Mother Language Day, so we thought we would combine these to make a tasty topical treat for your class!
Featured Activity of the day
Today, MFL is featured again. We have chosen, the activities, Bon Appetit in French and Guten Appetit in German, two European countries where pancakes and crepes are very popular! In these activities , the pupils must identify the word classes, verbs, articles and nouns, in the context of food. There is a Learn Screen and Worksheet accompanying both which help the pupils to identify which of the food related words are nouns, verbs or articles.
