The BFG by Roald Dahl: This story follows the journey of a little girl named Sophie, who is in for the adventure of a lifetime when she meets the Big Friendly Giant (BFG). They set off to save the world from all the bad giants. This humorous book is a must read for all Roald Dahl fans out there!
The Cat in the Hat by Dr Seuss: Follow the madness and mayhem when the Cat in the Hat turns up at Sally and her brother Conrad’s house one rainy day. This book has rhyming text and illustrations that children will love!
Charlotte’s Web by E.B White: If you’re looking for a modern classic, then you’re in for a treat with this one! Follow the tale of a girl named Fern, who saves her little pig Wilbur from danger with the help of a friendly talking spider called Charlotte. This book is witty and tells the true meaning of friendship.
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C S Lewis: When four siblings step through a wardrobe in a strange country house, they find themselves in a land of snow called Narnia. The White Witch threatens the land of Narnia and the children must try to find a way to save the forests and creatures. This magical fantasy will take children on an adventure and capture their imaginations.
The Racehorse Who Wouldn’t Gallop by Clare Balding: Horse-mad ten-year-old Charlie is thrilled when she buys a racehorse named Noble Warrior. The only problem is he won’t gallop, and with the championships fast approaching, can she help her horse overcome his nerves? This funny animal story is heart-warming and a great read.
