Let’s Get Creative! Three Spring Craft Ideas to Try

Let’s get straight into it!

Lollipop Stick BasketsSpring Craft Ideas

These little 2D craft baskets are perfect for your students to make, especially for a classroom display.

What you’ll need:

  • Craft pipe cleaners (any colour)
  • Small wooden lollipop sticks (brown are preferable, but any colour is optional)
  • PVA glue
  • Cellotape
  • Scissors
  • Decorations e.g. flower/bug stickers, glitter, beads etc.

 

Method

  1. First, you’ll need to glue the lollipop sticks together. To do this, simply place four lollipop sticks (roughly around 1cm apart) in a row vertically and then you’ll need to get three more and place these horizontally on top the row of four (same distance apart) and glue them in place. Then leave these to dry.
  2. Once they are dry, simply get a piece of pipe cleaner and bend it so it’s in the shape of a handle. Once you have this in place at either end of the lollipop sticks, simply cellotape in place.
  3. Now the finishing touch… time to decorate! Students can use whatever takes their fancy to stick on their baskets, so it’s time to go wild with the glitter!

Egg Carton Flower CraftEgg Carton Flower Craft

These flower pictures are super easy to make and is a perfect craft idea for spring.

What you’ll need:

  • Acrylic paint (any colour)
  • Cardboard egg carton
  • Paper drinking straws
  • Scissors
  • PVA glue
  • Small pom poms

 

Method

  1. First, you’ll need to cut out four containers out of the egg carton (adult supervision may be needed at this stage!). Trim the edges so it gives a rounder shape, as these will be the petals of the flower.
  2. Then take any colour of acrylic paint and use it to paint the flowers.
  3. Once the paint is dry, simply attach the straw to the back of the flower with the glue and pop a pom pom in the centre of the flower – perfect!

Shredded Wheat NestsShredded Wheat Nests

This one is such a well-known recipe, that we could not miss this one out! This recipe is enough to make ten nests.

One thing to note is that adult supervision will be needed, as you’ll need to boil water/use a microwave, unless you melt the chocolate ready for your students.

What you’ll need:

  • 200g milk chocolate (broken into pieces)
  • 85g Shredded Wheat (crushed up)
  • 100g bags of mini chocolate eggs (2 bags)

 

Method

  1. Melt the chocolate in a small bowl placed over a pan of simmering water (you could also use the microwave, but just stop to check it every 20 seconds and stir).
  2. Then add the Shredded Wheat and stir well to combine.
  3. Spoon the chocolate wheat into ten cupcake cases and press the back of a teaspoon into the middle to create a nest shape. Place three mini chocolate eggs on top of each nest.
  4.  Pop the nests in the fridge until they are set, then remove from the cupcake cases and you’re all done!
