Not only this, learning about and growing plants helps:
- Children to see that growing plants takes time and they need to be nurtured in order for them to grow.
- Show students a link to their environment around them.
- Demonstrate that when growing plants, you need to become the leader and be responsible for the growth of a plant.
In your lessons, you might learn about plants by growing some together and looking after them – we all know that most students love getting their hands dirty! Or maybe you might go out and do some plant identifying to explore more about plants.
Whatever you do, to support your lessons in plants, we’ve found some resources that feature plants on EducationCity for the EYFS level that can be found in the Science module and help to address the Prime and Specific Areas. You can either go to the Science module to find them or just type in the ID numbers to Search.
