International Children’s Book Day falls on Hans Christian Andersen’s birthday, 2nd April, and has been created as an opportunity to cherish books and reading in all its forms, whether that be reading a book in class or reading a comic over the Internet.
This year, the team at EducationCity have decided to celebrate the day by looking at the life and works of Hans Christian Andersen. Andersen is an international author by anyone’s standards, having written over 150 fairy tales, which have been translated into over 150 languages.
We’ve a Fact Sheet that uncovers details of his life, as well as cross-curricular Lesson Plans and ThinkIts that explore the themes of some of his most popular tales. Following on from these, we highlight our story-based Topic Tools to help you and your class review the fairy tales, and write your own.
