The Year 1 Phonics Screening Check, which takes place in June, tests students on their knowledge of the phonics skills they’ve learnt throughout the year to confirm whether they’ve learnt phonic decoding to an appropriate standard.

- Personalise the test to your needs: you can choose which words to include in the test (CVC, CCVC, etc.), making it easy to personalise it to your class’ needs. However, if your students just need general practice, you can prepare a test using the ‘Auto-Generate a Check’ option.
- Great test preparation: the tool follows the same format as the Phonics Screening Check test, including the use of aliens for identifying pseudo words, and words can be printed out in flashcard format for practice.
- Identify strengths and weaknesses to help your teaching: you can easily track your students’ progress as the Test will pull a list of all the words read both correctly and incorrectly together once the tool has been used – perfect for lesson planning!
