The Year 1 Phonics Screening Check tests students on how well they can use the phonics skills they have learnt throughout the year. As this test is compulsory for all students, it’s important for teachers to make sure that students are equipped with the right skills they need for the upcoming assessment.
This is where we can help. EducationCity’s Phonics Screening Check Tool is great for giving students the practice they need to prepare themselves for the test, as well as getting them used to the format.
Here are some of its benefits:
- You can choose which words (CVC, CCVC, etc.) to include in the test you create. This makes it easy to personalise it to the needs of your class and students. If your students are having difficulties with certain words, you can target those. If the students you are working with just need general practice, you have the option to prepare a test using the ‘Auto-Generate a Check’ option.
- The Tool follows the same format as the Phonics Screening Check test they will be sitting, including the use of aliens for identifying pseudo words.
- Once the test is completed, the Tool will compile a list of all the words read both correctly and incorrectly. These can be exported from EducationCity quickly and easily into Word, Excel or any other programme you choose so that you can easily track the progress of your students and identify their strengths and weaknesses.
