World Book Day!

Happy World Book Day everyone! We are sure your pupils have been excited all day to be dressed up as their favourite characters from their favourite books! Remember to send in your pictures of those fabulous costumes to marketing@EducationCity.com (with parental permission), so that we can post them on our blog!

This day is a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and reading!  World Book Day was first celebrated on April 23rd, 1923, as a way for booksellers in Spain to honour the very talented Spanish author Miguel de Cervantes, who died on that day. In 1995, UNESCO then decided to make this event a global event as it is also the anniversary of the death of the famous English playwright William Shakespeare. However, in the UK and Ireland, this even is now celebrated on the first Thursday of March every year.
